Barney McBride Family

Barney B. McBride met Verna Fay Wright at a barn dance near Watonga, Oklahoma in 1934. They married 28 Nov. that year. They lived in a dugout on the Canadian River bank near Bridgeport, Oklahoma. Their first son, Norman was born 1935, Glen Pless born 1937, Eldoris Fern born 1939, Melvin Dick born 1941, and Barbara Charlotte born 1946. All still living as of this post except Melvin who died 17 May 1999 following surgery on a kinked intestine.

I have written and had printed, a book in 2008 titled, "Family History of Barney B. McBride and Verna Fay Wright". Several of their descendants have copies and if you are related, please send me a message on here and I can email you a copy if you like.

Abraham McBride

No authentic documents have been found, that I am aware, that show Abraham is the father of Jesse C, Mary Jane, Pleasant M, Isaac Litt, Abraham, and Thomas Anderson McBride. However, my reasons for believing he is their father are:

1. Abraham is shown in Wilson County, Tennessee on the 1804 Tax Lists. Also, listed there are James McBride listed in Capt. Cannon's District. (The first list of taxpayers in Wilson County was divided by captain's companies; these were commanded by Kanah Fakals (Elkanah Echols), William Lancaster, Elisha Dillard, Solomon Harpole, and James Anderson.

2. There are several Abraham McBride's in the family which leads me to believe they were named after their grandfather.

3. To be continued.

Where to begin?

I have another blog for the "Wright" side of my family. For those of you who may be related, it is found a barbmcbride.blogspot.com.

Since my McBride family history research is at a brick wall, I don't have that much but I want to post what I do have and with the hopes that someone out there may be able to send me more so I can add to it. If any of you belong to ancestry.com, you can see my family tree on there. It is listed as "Barb's Family Tree".

This blog is new as of 2/15/11. It will cover my McBride family and perhaps help me put things in perspective as I enter photos, stories, obituaries, marriage licenses, etc. Check back or follow it often to see what's been added.
